| Frequently Asked Questions |
 |
Q: Is belly casting safe?
A: Yes. This process, as well as the all materials we use, is completely safe. We use non-toxic materials including medical grade plaster gauze and long time trusted Vaseline® as a lubricant to prevent the plaster sticking to your skin. Your baby is free to move around as normal and kicks may even dent or slightly crack the cast adding to it's uniqueness.
Q: What material do you make a belly cast out of?
A: We use medical grade plaster gauze. This comes in strips that are dipped into warm water and applied to your skin.
Q: When should I get a belly cast done?
A: About 36-38 weeks into your pregnancy, when you are at your fullest, so we get the best possible shape. If you are having twins we recommend having a belly cast done sooner. Monthly or trimester belly casts are also available - please enquire.
Q: Can I bring my partner or a friend to a belly casting session?
A: Yes, definitely. We encourage you to bring someone you feel comfortable with to join you in this unique experience. You may even wish to include you partner's hands in the belly cast too.
Q: What do I do with my belly cast when it is finished?
A: Baby Bump Belly Casts are made as keepsakes to last a lifetime. Finished belly casts can hang mounted like a picture on the wall, free stand on a dresser, be placed on a pedestal or in a display cabinet, or on a purpose-built stand. You may even choose to make your belly cast into a clock or bowl. There are endless ways of displaying them.
Q: Is it difficult to make a belly cast with a Baby Bump Belly Casting Kit?
A: No. The Baby Bump Belly Casting Kits contains detailed, easy to follow instructions for your partner or friend to perform the cast on you. Just remember to read through the instructions before starting.
Q: Do you have any tips for finishing a belly cast?
A: It doesn't matter how artistic you are. There are endless ways of decorating belly casts. Whether you want to keep it plain, paint it, cover it in hand prints or photos, or use shells, sand, feathers, ribbon, or any other materials to decorate it.
